It measures 400 x 80 (63) cm. The work shows us, by way of formal synthesis, the act of two people who are about to embrace. An impulsive act for any being. As well as offering us protection it alludes to a union of two beings who communicate, give themselves up to each other, and love each other. Two beings who meet each other again, an exchange of sensitive and spiritual material, since in every embrace body and soul merge and remain in time. Thus, every embrace humanises people, makes us more compassionate, fills all those voids that we find in the course of our lives and manages to make those unbearable days more bearable. The artist: María José Zanón María José Zanón Cuenca, PhD in Fine Arts, sculptor and research professor at the Miguel Hernández University (UMH). She explores the expressive qualities of materials when manipulated using different techniques. She has researched the processes that can be applied to the construction of sculptures, especially incisive, corrosive, thermal and mechanical techniques. In each of her creations, she explores in depth the relationship with the materials, the processes for their transformation and their expressive possibilities. Zanón is a member of the UMH’s FIDEX group, made up of teachers, researchers and artists who analyse the freedom of the possibilities of bodies, cultural, feminist and queer discourses – and the imaginary of the lives of desire and its materialisation.
